From September 2016 Lithuania requires radiological passport for biofuels

14.09.2016 Категория: Мир

Since September of this year in order to bring to Lithuania biological fuels such as wood briquettes, pellets or biofuel made of peat, it is necessary to provide documents on radiological studies. This innovation applies only to biofuel imports from Belarus, Ukraine and the Russian Federation with the exception of Kaliningrad and the Kaliningrad region. This was stated by the Customs Department of the Republic of Lithuania.

The radiological passport must indicate the content of radionuclides cesium-137. If on biofuels will not be granted the necessary documents or radiological levels of radionuclides cesium-137 is more than 30 Bq / kg, then such a load will not pass the Lithuanian border.

In the first six months of 2016, from different regions of the Russian Federation on the territory of the Republic of Lithuania have been imported more than nine tons of pellets from wood.

About 25 Russian manufacturers of wood pellets exporting their products to Lithuania and about 15 businesses supply to Lithuania briquettes. In just the first six months of this year, 3,500 tons of fuel briquettes were imported to Lithuania.
