The industrial sector is lagging behind the private consumption of wood pellets in the EU

12.11.2015 Category: World

European experts analyzed a biofuel market and found that in the European market the private sector consumes more pellets than the industrial sector.

According to experts, this year the industrial sector consumed 7.8 million tons of pellets, whereas last year the private sector consumed 11 million tons of wood pellets. In Europe, the number of solid-fuel boilers and power plants that use industrial wood pellets is steadily increasing. But in this case, the transition to alternative energy sources is entirely dependent on government subsidies.

For this reason, manufacturers of wood pellets in Europe are more focused on private customers.

At the same time 70% of the private use of pellets accounted for countries such as Austria, Sweden, Germany, France and Italy. The volumes of sales of solid fuel equipment is also increasing, and usualy this equipment is also manufactured in the mentioned countries. For example, over the past five years, in Austria, production of fuel pellets doubled. In addition, the supply of pellets from North America, the Eastern European countries and the Russian Federation is constantly increasing.
